SilverStone ST1200-PTS

SilverStoneTek is a company best known for its high-quality cases but its product lines extend into other components such as cooling, power supplies (of various model lines that range from 300W to 1350W in DC output), fans, and storage solutions. Silverstone has built up this impressive product repertoire since its founding in 2003. For this review, we are looking at the Strider Platinum 1200W model SST-ST1200-PTS in the Strider series which is produced in conjunction with Enhance.

Enhance Electronics Co. Ltd. was founded more than 30 years ago in 1986. While a major power supply OEM Enhance is not nearly as well known to most users as some other OEMs as its core business focus has been outside of the desktop market in areas such as servers, embedded, and telecom markets. However, its products have started to surface in the US consumer realm in the last year or so under the likes of SilverStone, Silverpower, Antec, Cooler Master, and GIGABYTE, as well as the occasional Enhance branded model.

A Platinum SilverStone Gets a Bit Bigger

The ST1200-PTS is the second power supply we have seen from SilverStone that is part of their Strider Platinum line. In the previous example, the ST1000-PTS was a good unit and it came in a compact size for such a large capacity. Today, SilverStone is stepping things up a notch as we are seeing the same form factor used with the ST1200-PTS but an additional 200W in capacity has been added to the unit. So, we are definitely looking forward to what this even higher-powered, but still diminutive, unit can do today. Before moving on to see how the ST1200-PTS does, what does SilverStone have to say about this unit:

  • Compact design with a depth of 140mm for easy integration
  • High efficiency with 80 PLUS Platinum certification
  • 100% modular cables
  • 24/7 continuous power output with 40℃ operating temperature
  • Class-leading single +12V rail
  • Strict ±3% voltage regulation and low ripple & noise
  • Built-in silent & durable HYB fan
  • FF122 magnetized fan filter included

Let’s move on now and see what we can expect when a user purchases the SilverStone ST1200-PTS power supply in retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
