id Software claimed that DOOM Eternal was the greatest game it had ever made, and early reception definitely reflects that sentiment. Glowing reviews aside, Bethesda announced that the game has earned the series’ best-ever opening week sales, double the launch-weekend revenue of 2016’s DOOM. (The publisher hasn’t given an exact figure yet, however.)

DOOM Eternal also launched to nearly 105,000 concurrent players on Steam. According to video game industry analyst Benji-Sales, that’s triple the all-time concurrent peak player record for 2016’s DOOM reboot.

DOOM Eternal is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. A Nintendo Switch release is also in the works, but Bethesda hasn’t said when that will be available.

Developed by id Software, DOOM Eternal is the direct sequel to DOOM, winner of The Game Awards’ Best Action Game of 2016. Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as you rip-and-tear your way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat. Powered by idTech 7 and set to an all-new pulse-pounding soundtrack composed by Mick Gordon, DOOM Eternal puts you in control of the unstoppable DOOM Slayer as you blow apart new and classic demons with powerful weapons in unbelievable and never-before-seen worlds.
