EVGA RTX 3060 XC BLACK 1080p Performance
On this page, we will test 1080p (1920×1080) resolution performance on the video card. This resolution should prove to be very playable, so we will find out for sure. We will run all the games at the highest settings. We will test Ray Tracing and DLSS on a separate page later on. On the next page, we will test 1440p.
Hitman 3
Hitman 3 was just released recently. For this game, we are enabling all the graphics options at the highest setting. However, we do have Variable Shading disabled. We are running the Dubai built-in benchmark.
Hitman 3 seems to favor AMD GPUs in performance. We’ve observed similar performance scaling from other hardware review sites and performance reviews on this game. The Radeon RX 5700 is therefore above everything except the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. This is an outlier compared to other games, but of course, the point here is that this is the real-world performance you will get in this particular game.
The main thing we want to focus on is how much faster the EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK video card is compared to the GeForce RTX 2060 FE. In that regard, the new RTX 3060 is 19% faster. That’s a nice upgrade from the last generation. The other important thing to note here is the high framerates anyway. At 141 FPS the game is extremely playable at 1080p on the new EVGA RTX 3060. We are at the highest game settings here, so gamers with 120Hz refresh rates should enjoy this game on the new EVGA RTX 3060 quite well at 1080p. For comparison’s sake, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is 29% faster than the EVGA RTX 3060.
Cyberpunk 2077
For Cyberpunk 2077 we are using patched version 1.12 for testing. We use the in-game graphics presets for testing at “Ultra” settings and enabling Ray Tracing. We test without DLSS first, and then enable DLSS with Ray Tracing. We do a manual run-through in the game for the benchmark data.
Cyberpunk 2077 is of course a demanding game. However, at 1080p the new EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK pulls through quite nicely at “Ultra” settings. It averages 58 FPS, very near 60. This means the game is very playable on the video card at 1080p with “Ultra” settings. Neither the Radeon RX 5700 nor GeForce RTX 2060 FE allow this. The EVGA RTX 3060 is 15% faster than the RTX 2060 FE at 1080p. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is 29% faster than the RTX 3060.
Dirt 5
In Dirt 5 we are using the new patch update 3.00. We set all the graphics options to the highest values. We manually select the resolution and do not let the game manage automatic resolution scaling, we hard set the resolution in all three categories to the resolution being tested. We use the built-in benchmark.
In this game the GeForce RTX 2060 FE trails behind the others quite a bit, with the Radeon RX 5700 making a surprising comeback in performance. However, the new EVGA RTX 3060 XC does seem to edge out the Radeon RX 5700 in this game and is the second-fastest video card here. The EVGA RTX 3060 is 19% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 FE, which is a nice upgrade in performance. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is 33% faster than the EVGA RTX 3060 for comparison. Once again, the important part here is that the new EVGA RTX 3060 is at very playable performance levels averaging over 80FPS. You’ll have no problem maxing this game out at 1080p with the new video card.
Watch Dogs Legion
In Watch Dogs Legion we use the graphics preset to select “Ultra” quality. We manually enable “Ultra” Ray Tracing when testing that, plus “Quality” DLSS when testing DLSS with Ray Tracing. We use the built-in benchmark for testing.
Watch Dogs Legion is another demanding game. However, the new EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC is providing a playable game experience at 1080p at “Ultra” settings. Interestingly the Radeon RX 5700 is shining once again as well in this game. This is of course, without Ray Tracing and or DLSS, which the RX 5700 does not support and the RTX 3060 does, so we’ll look at that on a following page. Compared to the GeForce RTX 2060 FE the new EVGA RTX 3060 is a whopping 30% faster in this game. That’s a pretty big upgrade in performance for this game with the new RTX 3060. For comparison, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is 32% faster than the RTX 3060.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn we enable the “Ultimate Quality” graphics option. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing.
In Horizon Zero Dawn at 1080p the EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK is coming in strong at 94FPS average and is the second-fastest video card here. It beats the RX 5700 and RTX 2060 FE. Compared to the RTX 2060 FE it is 19% faster. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is 24% faster than the RTX 3060. At 94FPS this game is more than playable on the new RTX 3060 at maximum settings in this game at 1080p.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
For Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 we always use the most updated version and we enable the “Ultra” graphics preset and select resolution as needed. We do have live online terrain enabled; however, we do disable traffic. The weather pattern is set to light clouds at 12PM in the day for testing. We fly a manual run-through from Denver towards Pike Peak. This flight takes us over many different terrain types, including a dense city and mountains with lots of trees. We record a 10-minute run-through from an external view.
MS Flight Sim 2020 is notorious for being CPU-bound, especially at lower resolutions like 1080p. This is why the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE is so close in performance to the new EVGA RTX 3060 video card. On the next page, at 1440p you’ll see a completely different story. However, for 1080p the new EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK video card is very playable delivering over 50FPS at 1080p with the highest in-game settings enabled. The Radeon RX 5700 and GeForce RTX 2060 FE were not playable. Compared to the RTX 2060 FE the new RTX 3060 is 17% faster in this game, and very playable.
Red Dead Redemption 2
In Red Dead Redemption 2 we run the game in the Vulkan API. We set all the in-game options up to “Ultra” or the highest value, except for MSAA. We use the built-in benchmark for testing.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is another game that is very taxing. This game really isn’t playable at the highest settings at 1080p on the Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce RTX 2060 FE. However, it is playable on the EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK video card. Compared to the RTX 2060 FE the new RTX 3060 is 19% faster. Of course, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is much faster, it’s 27% faster.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
In Ghost Recon Breakpoint we run the game in the Vulkan API. We set the graphics options in the game to “Ultimate” textures and “Ultimate” graphics settings and set resolution as needed. We use the built-in benchmark for testing.
At 1080p this game is very playable on the EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK video card at 94FPS. We are running the game at the absolute highest settings, and it just takes it in stride at 1080p with performance to spare. The RTX 3060 is 12% faster than the RTX 2060 FE at 1080p. We may actually be seeing some CPU-dependence here. On the next page, we’ll see how 1440p looks.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
In Wolfenstein Youngblood the game runs in the Vulkan API. We set the graphics option to “Mein Leben!” for the highest settings. We enable Ray Tracing and DLSS on Quality Mode as needed. When not using DLSS the NVIDIA Adaptive Shading option is on Quality. We leave the rest of the settings at default. We use the built-in benchmark of Riverside for testing.
Every video card is extremely playable in this game at 1080p with the highest settings. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC BLACK is faster than the RTX 2060 FE by 14%. Basically, enjoy your 140Hz display in this game with no problems at 1080p with the RTX 3060.
