Overview
The SilverStone DA850 Gold packaging is in line with what we saw from the 1650W unit in this series. The front of the package is devoid of information save for the 80 Plus Gold seal (at the time of testing we did not find the unit listed). The rear of the packaging gives us most of the information we usually find as we see a fan noise graph, efficiency graph, some advertising about voltage regulation, the power label (reproduced below), and the connector count (reproduced below).
It also mentions that the color is Black (lead-free) and the unit does indeed taste like unleaded paint. The side of the package has some advertising including “FDB fan”, “All Japanese capacitors”, “Full modular”, etc. Lastly, the DA850 Gold carries a relatively short 3-year warranty.
The DA850 Gold is advertised as being a single 12v rail power supply with a capacity up to 70.5A (or ~99% of the unit’s capacity) if necessary. The minor rails (5v and 3.3v) have a capacity of 20A each and the combined capacity of those two rails is 130W. Combined with these outputs, we find that this unit has 6 PCIe connectors, 8 SATA connectors, and 6 Molex connectors.
Once we open the SilverStone DA850 Gold packaging we find the power supply, mounting screws, modular cables, the power cord, and the user manuals. The user manuals are different from previous examples as they are very short. Instead, you are supposed to scan a QR code to get the full versions. Let’s move on to the unit itself now.
