Gameplay Performance

We are going to focus on 1440p gameplay performance with the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition Video Card.  We will include DLSS and FSR performance on the same graph in the games that are supported.  We will use DLSS on NVIDIA GPUs and FSR on AMD GPUs.  Ray Tracing performance will be shown on a separate page.

When comparing video cards in this review, we are using a SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 6750 XT 12GB, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB Founders Edition. Keep in mind prices by MSRP when looking at the performance, the Radeon RX 6750 XT launched at $549, the Radeon RX 6700 XT launched at $479, and the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB FE launched at $399. The XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition Video Card has a launch MSRP of $469.

Returnal

Returnal was launched on the PC in February of 2023 and is based on Unreal Engine 4. The game supports real-time ray tracing effects, particle systems, and volumetric rendering. We utilize the graphics preset to set EPIC graphics settings with an unlocked framerate, and everything is enabled. For ray tracing tests we have enabled Ray Traced Shadows and Reflections at EPIC settings. We use the built-in benchmark.

XFX SPEEDSTER QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black-performance: Returnal

In this game, we see that all the video cards are more than capable of running at fast smooth FPS. The XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition sits at the top of the stack. We can see the card enjoys a 16% lead over the RTX 4060 Ti. The gains compared to the last generation are 22 and 16%. When FSR is enabled the upscaling boost is right at 30% over all comers. Our overclock is about 3%. The game was very playable with the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition.

Forspoken

Forspoken was released on January 24th, 2023, on the PC and uses the Luminous Engine. The game supports all upscaling methods and Ray Tracing. We are going to customize the settings and enable the highest graphics settings, including Ultra High Texture Memory. We use the built-in benchmark.

This game is quite graphically demanding. Here in plain rasterization, we see the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition show the top result. The last generation uplift is again 16 and 22%. Surprisingly the 4060 Ti is in last place. The margin from the top is 34%. As FSR is enabled all cards are smoothly playable and the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition just misses 100FPS. The upscaling margin again is 30%. Overclocking gains just over 1%.

Callisto Protocol

The Callisto Protocol was released in December of 2022 on the PC and is based on Unreal Engine 4. We run the game in DX12 mode with unlimited framerate, and all graphics settings enabled and at the highest graphics settings. This game supports ray-traced shadows, reflections, and transmissions. We use the built-in benchmark.

The XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition turns in another smooth and fast performance in this game. The results are very similar to the above two games, however, the distance between the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition and the previous generation is now doubled to 43 and 36%. The last-generation cards can’t reach playable levels. The RTX 4060 Ti shows better here but is still 14% behind. Upscaling just makes good better here. Nearly 100 FPS again. The margin is slightly less at roughly 25% over the other three cards. The overclock adds just over 2%.

Chernobylite Enhanced Edition

Chernobylite, based on Unreal Engine 4, was released on the PC in 2021, but the Enhanced Edition update for the game was released in April 2022. The Enhanced Edition provides a visual overhaul of the game with better textures, plus introduces tessellation and ray tracing features. It features raytraced reflections, raytraced translucency, raytraced caustics, and raytraced dynamic diffuse global illumination. It supports upscaling, and we use the highest quality. We use the built-in benchmark.

When you look at the results in this chart, the FPS are blistering from top to bottom. That said, the real devil is in the Ray Tracing to come. Here the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition puts up a fast FPS in plain rasterization. The game is smooth and very enjoyable. It does lag behind the RTX 4060 Ti by 5%, however bests the prior generation cards by 19 and 25% (although their results aren’t too bad at all). The addition of upscaling puts the pedal down for all the cards. The XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition is 25% better than the last generation cards and about 10% behind the RTX 4060 Ti.

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC.  It uses Techland’s C-Engine and supports Ray Tracing for various environmental effects including Ray Traced Soft Shadows, Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion, Ray Traced Global Illumination, and Ray Traced Reflections.  It also supports both DLSS and FSR 2.0 upscaling technologies.  We are using the game’s built-in benchmark. We use the game patched to 1.11.4p.

XFX SPEEDSTER QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black-performance: Dying Light 2

Another demanding game that doesn’t seem like a big challenge to these cards. Again the results are all smooth and very fast. Our XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition takes a lead here and never looks back. The other cards do very well such that the margin here is between 9 and 14%. The RTX 4060 Ti has somewhat of a hard time keeping up until upscaling is added. Things do tighten considerably with upscaling. The margin over the last generation of cards is only 6 and 11%.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 1.63 for our testing. We test using the built-in benchmark. Preset options for Ultra quality are used. Ray Tracing testing uses the “Ultra” presets. This game also supports DLSS and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution FSR 2.1.  We test FSR 2.1 Ultra Quality on AMD GPUs.

XFX SPEEDSTER QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black-performance: Cyberpunk 2077

This is a nice result for the XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black Edition right here. Still likely one of the most demanding games around and 80FPS!! This is 25% better than the RTX 4060 Ti, 31% over the RX 6750 XT, and 55% faster than the 6700 XT. All the cards are nicely playable with upscaling enabled. The XFX SPEEDSTER QICK 319 Radeon RX 7700 XT Black still enjoys a comfortable margin. The gameplay is most enjoyable here.
