Overview
The Seasonic PRIME PX-1600 ATX 3.0 1600W Platinum packaging is huge! I mean, huge! That said, it is very much like what Seasonic has been using for its PRIME units over the last number of years. The front of the package is bare of information save for the advertising about the 12-year warranty, and the 80 Plus Platinum seal. When we check the 80 Plus website we find that this unit is listed and, as such, we will see how it does in this regard later.
The rear of the packaging has a lot more in the way of advertising as we find advertisements for the FDB fan, fan controller, voltage regulation, ATX 3.0 compatibility, 16-pin PCIe Gen 5 Cable (12VHPWR), etc. This is in addition to the efficiency graph and found here as well. The side of the package has the power label (reproduced below) and the connector count (reproduced below).
The PRIME PX-1600 ATX3.0 is advertised as being a single 12v rail power supply with a capacity of up to 133.3A (or ~99% of the unit’s capacity) if necessary. The minor rails (5v and 3.3v) have a capacity of 25A each and the combined capacity of those two rails is 125W (which seems low for a 1600W unit). Combined with these outputs, we find that this unit has 3 ATX12v/EPS connectors, 6 PCIe connectors, 16 SATA connectors, 2 3.3v SATA connectors, 3 Molex connectors, and 2 12VHPWR connectors.
Once we open the PRIME PX-1600 ATX3.0 packaging we find the power supply, mounting screws, modular cables, the power cord, Velcro straps, zip ties, power supply tester, and the user manual. The user manual comes in two parts and covers some basic installation, warranty, and troubleshooting items. Let’s move on to the unit itself now.
