Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)
CrystalDiskMark

The rated sequential speed on the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD is 7,450MB/s read and 6,900MB/s write. According to CrystalDiskMark SEQ1M Q8T1 the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD has a sequential read of 7,471MB/s and a sequential write of 6,920MB/s, therefore it is achieving the quoted and rated speed, and pushing slightly beyond, so performance is exactly as advertised.
The performance we really want to call attention to is the write speed here at 6,920MB/s. At this write speed the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD is outperforming EVERY SSD storage device we have it compared with on this graph. It bests the next two fastest SSDs on write performance (Teamgroup MP44, Lexar NM790) by 5% more write performance. In terms of read speed, it is right up there as the second fastest.

In SEQ128K Q32T1 the same steller performance from the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD is playing out here as well. The write performance is once again ahead of the next fastest SSD, the Lexar NM790 in write performance.

In RND4K Q32T16 performance the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD absolutely dominates performance in read and write performance, it really is quite something. At 4916MB/s read, it outperforms the next fastest SSD, the Lexar NM800 PRO by 18%. What’s even more appealing is how fast the write performance is in random performance, at 6448MB/s it outperforms the Lexar NM800 PRO by 40%! That’s just incredible.

In RND4K Q1T1 performance the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD dominates performance in read performance at 82MB/s, which is 6% faster than the Lexar NM800 PRO. It is not, however, the fastest in write performance in random Q1T1 testing, in fact, it’s the slowest, right on par with the Lexar NM710, so that appears to be its one weak spot.
ATTO

Using the popular ATTO Disk Benchmark, the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD replicates what we saw in CrystalDiskMark in terms of sequential write performance. The Samsung 990 PRO 1TB SSD is 5% ahead of the Lexar NM790 on write performance. In terms of read performance, it is the second to fastest, coming very close to the NM800 PRO.
