Resident Evil Zero (2002) and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica (2000), two classic survival horror games that allowed players to take on the roles of Claire Redfield/Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers/Billy Coen, respectively, are set to return decades after their original debut on the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo GameCube platforms, according to new rumors that surfaced this week about how remakes for both titles are currently in development at Capcom. Dusk Golem, who shared the alleged news, claimed earlier this month that a remake of the original Resident Evil is also in the works, planned for release in 2026, while RE9, the next mainline installment of the franchise, may be delayed to late 2025 or 2026.

Capcom’s RE remakes already include:

  • Resident Evil 4 (March 23, 2023)
  • Resident Evil 3 (April 2, 2020)
  • Resident Evil 2 (January 25, 2019)

The word from Dusk Golem:

Game descriptions:

Raccoon City was just the beginning. Claire and Chris Redfield’s nightmare continues as the siblings fight to survive against zombies and other monstrosities within Umbrella’s deadly facilities. Scavenge for weapons and precious ammo to battle undead canines, a gigantic subterranean worm, and other terrors lurking in the shadows. Explore the mysterious Rockfort Island facility and the freezing Antarctic Base for clues exposing the Umbrella Corporation’s sordid goals and the truth behind the mysterious and unsettling Ashford twins.

Resident Evil 0 reveals the truth behind the Mansion Incident, the catalyst for the entire storyline of the Resident Evil series. This remastered version takes the story and gameplay of the original and adds stunning HD graphics, 5.1 channel surround sound, optional modernised controls and widescreen TV compatibility. Get ready to discover the terrible secrets lurking in the origins of evil.
