Konami has published a new chapter of its METAL GEAR SOLID Legacy Series that features David Hayter—the voice of Solid Snake, Naked Snake, and Big Boss—hyping up the upcoming METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER remake, and with it comes an apology from series producer Noriaki Okamura about how METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION, its bundle of classic Metal Gear games, has failed to live up to player expectations. The collection, which costs $59.99 and delivers seven Metal Gear titles, including Snake’s Revenge (1990), was criticized for everything from lower resolutions (e.g., MGS2 and MGS3 being locked to 720p) and 30 FPS caps to the lack of graphics/audio options on PC when it launched last year, in October 2023.

Okamura mentioned:

  • “These were games that came out more than a decade ago, so we had some issues we had to clear up…”
  • “…when it was released, we got a lot of unhappy feedback, where people were struggling with bugs and playability issues, and issues with resolution.”
  • “…we’re very sorry that the game wasn’t up to standards.”
  • “…we’re still continuing to update and improve the game to address these issues.”
  • “We want everyone to still be enjoying Metal Gear, and this compilation, even 10, 20 years from now, so we hope everyone will give us a little more time to get it there.”
