Still Wakes the Deep, the new first-person narrative horror game that challenges players to survive through vicious storms and more as an oil rig worker in 1970s Scotland, is a botched release on PC Game Pass, according to a forum post from one of the developers at The Chinese Room that explains how that particular version of the game only features one upscaling technology: Temporal Super Resolution (TSR). PC players who are looking for AMD FSR 3, NVIDIA DLSS 3, and/or Intel XeSS have been advised to go with the Steam and Epic Games Store versions.

The Chinese Room writes:

  • “Gamepass version does not have any of the upscaling technologies other than the default Unreal Engine Temporal Super Resolution (TSR).”
  • “On Steam we support FSR3, DLSS, XeSS and Unreal Engine Temporal Super Resolution (TSR).”
  • “And on Epic Online Store we also support the same as Steam.”
  • “We are hard at work on our first global patch across all formats, which will be entering platform certification next week and will be available in July.”
  • “This will address some of the reported issues, including…missing DLSS support for PC Game Pass.”

NVIDIA noted:

…Still Wakes The Deep includes day-one support for DLSS 3, DLAA and Reflex, giving GeForce RTX gamers the definitive experience when fighting for their lives in this eagerly awaited game. At 4K, with every setting maxed, DLSS delivers a 2.6X average uplift, enabling many configurations to play at well over 60 FPS, and higher-end systems to play at over 100 FPS.
