Power and Temperature

To test the power and temperature we perform a manual run-through in Cyberpunk 2077 at “Ultra” settings for real-world in-game data. We use GPU-Z sensor data to record the results. We report on the GPU-Z sensor data for “Board Power” and “GPU Chip Power” when available for our Wattage data. For temperature data, we report the GPU (Edge Temp of the GPU or Package Temp) as well as Hot Spot (Junction Temperature) when available for our temperature data.

Board Power Graph

The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER has a total board power of 250W, while the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has a total board power of 285W. In our testing, while playing a game, the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER hit just above that, while the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is around its TDP as well last 282W on this video card, according to GPU-Z data while playing a game. That makes the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER pull only about 9% more board power than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, yet performs 100%+ faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER in performance, which is incredible efficiency.

GPU Chip Power Graph

Looking at just GPU Chip Power, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER uses 10% more power than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, for the GPU chip.

GPU Temperature Graph

The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER is a Founders Edition design, while the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER we are using is an ASUS TUF model with custom cooling from ASUS as there are no Founders Editions of the RTX 4070 Ti. Due to this, the ASUS TUF video card is running much cooler on the GPU temperature at nearly 18 degrees cooler.

GPU Hot Spot Temperature Graph

Looking at GPU Hot Spot, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is running a whopping 31 degrees cooler than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE. Again, this is a Founders Edition card compared to an ASUS TUF custom-cooled video card with the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.
