Fire TV, Amazon’s lineup of digital media players and devices, including the HDMI Fire TV Sticks with Alexa Voice Remotes, will soon be adding support for Xbox Gaming, allowing users to play Starfield, Fallout 4, Forza Horizon 5, and other popular games without a console, Amazon and Microsoft announced today as part of a new collaboration, one where the latter mentioned it was committed to bringing the joy and community of gaming to everyone. The Xbox app will be available on two Fire TV Stick models in July; players just need one of these devices, including a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership, to get started.

The Xbox app is coming to:

  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) ($59.99)
  • Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) ($49.99)

Microsoft on how to get things running:

  • “Simply install and launch the Xbox app from your Fire TV device.”
  • “Sign in with your Microsoft account to play. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have instant access to hundreds of cloud-enabled games.”
  • “Not a member? No worries! You can join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for one low monthly price, or check out Fortnite without a membership.”
  • “Connect a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. Controllers like the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense, or DualShock 4 controller are all compatible.”
  • “Start Playing!”

Amazon noted:

One of the biggest benefits of cloud gaming is the ability to play premium games without needing a console. The Fire TV Stick may be compact, but it can stream and run graphically intense Xbox games like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

This portability also means you can easily move your cloud gaming setup from the living room TV to a different room or even take it on the road. As long as you have a solid internet connection and your compatible Fire TV Stick, and a compatible controller, you can take your Xbox Game Pass games and saved progress travels with you.
