Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s game subscription service, is about to get more expensive, according to an new support page on xbox.com that can confirm several big changes are coming to the service, including increased pricing for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Core, and PC Game Pass members. Microsoft has also introduced a new Standard tier of the service that will replace the Xbox Game Pass Console tier, one that will cost $14.99/mo. but not include certain perks, such as day-one titles and Xbox Cloud gaming.
When the new prices are going into effect:
- New members: July 10, 2024
- Existing members: September 12, 2024
Some of the new pricing for U.S. members include:
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: $16.99/mo. to $19.99/mo.
- PC Game Pass: $9.99/mo. to $11.99/mo.
- Xbox Game Pass Core: $59.99 to $74.99 (monthly plans remain at $9.99)

- “Price changes will go into effect for new members for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Core, and PC Game Pass.”
- “Game Pass for Console will no longer be available for new members.”
- “Members who are already subscribed to Game Pass for Console and have automatic payment renewal enabled will be able to continue to enjoy their membership.”
- “Also, a new Game Pass option, Xbox Game Pass Standard, will become available in the coming months. These changes will enable us to bring members more value and more great games to Game Pass.”
