Gears of War: E-Day Job Listing Hints at Potential Release on PlayStation

Gears of War: E-Day, a new installment of the third-person shooter franchise from The Coalition that will serve as a prequel to the previous games, including 2007’s Gears of War, may be in development for not only Xbox and PC, but also PlayStation platforms, according to a new job listing that has surfaced on Microsoft’s Careers page. The “preferred” qualifications for the listing, which is for a Senior Online Client Engineer, calls for someone who has experience in “Xbox Live, PSN, Steam or other online gaming platforms.”

The listed qualifications include:

  • “Interest in multiplayer gaming.”
  • “Experience with Unreal Engine.”
  • “Experience with other object-oriented programming languages (C# preferred).”
  • “Game-specific networking experience including: object replication, client-server and peer-to-peer architectures, server migration, dedicated servers, time sync, prediction, QoS, voice, etc.”
  • “Experience with Xbox Live, PSN, Steam or other online gaming platforms.”
  • “Experience developing: sign-in flows, match making, progression systems, ugc/dlc systems, leaderboards.”
  • “Experience with Azure, AWS or other cloud providers.”
