Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the 2023 installment of the military shooter series from Activision, will be added to Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate tomorrow, on Wednesday, July 24, Xbox has announced. The addition comes several months after Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which was initially announced in January 2022 but did not complete until last year, on October 13, 2023.

Xbox on the shooter:

  • “Immediately following the events of Modern Warfare II, Captain Price, Ghost and the rest of Task Force 141 continue the hunt for ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, taking them across the world in this gripping single player campaign.”
  • “All the classic maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2009) make their return, but with new gameplay improvements that players have become accustomed to over the years.”
  • “…in addition to the large-scale Invasion and Ground War maps and four seasons’ worth of post-launch maps and updates, means that you’ll be getting an incredible amount of content right from the jump.”
  • “MWIII also introduces After-Market Parts, allowing you to further customize your weapons. And if you’ve played MWII multiplayer, MWIII allows you to transfer much of your content and weapon progression with its Carry Forward feature.”
  • “Prepare to fight and survive against hordes of zombies in the largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever! In this co-op PvE extraction mode, you and your squad drop into the outskirts of an infested Urzikstan as a part of Operation: Deadbolt.”

A promo for the latest addition to Game Pass:

Game description:

In the direct sequel to the record-breaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against the ultimate threat. The ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov is extending his grasp across the world causing Task Force 141 to fight like never before.

Modern Warfare III celebrates the 20th anniversary of Call of Duty with one of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever assembled – both fan favorites and all new ones. All 16 launch maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernized with new modes and gameplay features and will be available at launch to get everyone started, while over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.
