The Witcher voice actor Doug Cockle has confirmed that Geralt will be a part of the next game but not as its main protagonist. Doug recently treated fans to re-enactments of lines from all three videogames when he was tasked to remember the iconic dialogue that helped define the character. The Witcher voice actor also recreated a few other lines from other projects including Bhaal from Baldur’s Gate III, Father John Maloney from Band of Brothers, and more.
While not exactly a secret it has already been confirmed that Geralt would return for the next it was not known in what capacity. Doug shares that he’s yet to be given a script but does confirm that Geralt will not be the main character, a detail that has been rumored for some time. The Witcher 4, aka codename Polaris, is said to be some years off still but CD PROJEKT RED did announce in March that its team was nearly fully staffed. With over 400 developers, which is approximately two-thirds of CDPR’s staff, the game was scheduled to enter production in Q2 24.
Per Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski (via VGC):
- “The Polaris team, on the other hand, has grown to over 400 developers,” Nowakowski said, “reaching its target size for entering the production phase. This is scheduled for the second half of the year.”

Fans wanting to hear more of Doug’s portrayal of Geralt may not have to wait until The Witcher 4 as Netlix’s animated feature The Witcher: Sirens of The Deep is expected to debut on the streaming service before the end of the year. According to Tudum, the new feature takes place between Episodes 5 and 6 of Season 1 of the series starring Henry Cavill. Below are some other details for the animated movie.
- “It’s confirmed The Witcher stars Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey will also reprise their roles as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier for the animated movie. The Witcher universe newcomer Christina Wren will voice new character Essi Daven.”
- Based on an original story, “Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must count on friends — old and new — to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into an all-out war.”
- “The film is written by The Witcher series writers Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin and produced by The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Author Sapkowski serves as the creative consultant. Kang Hei Chul, who served as a storyboard artist on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, is the flick’s director.”
