Alien: Romulus, the new Alien movie from director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead) that has received positive reception from critics and fans for its production values and scenes inspired by past installments of the series, including Alien, Aliens, and Alien: Resurrection, has made $108,200,000 million at the global office following its premiere in U.S. theaters last week on August 16, according to the latest box office figures that have been shared online. News of the movie’s successful opening, which is said to mark the second best for the franchise, comes a few days after Alvarez suggested that he’d be open to directing a third Alien vs. Predator movie, a potential follow-up to the 2007 film that featured a veteran Predator (Wolf), aliens bursting out of pregnant women, and more.
Alien: Romulus numbers so far:
- Domestic (38.4%): $41,500,000
- International (61.6%): $66,700,000
- Worldwide: $108,200,000
Alvarez on what could be his next project:
- “I don’t know…depends on how well this does, maybe, if people want to go see that…”
- “Maybe it’s something I have to co-direct with my buddy Dan [Tratchenberg, who helmed the widely watched Predator 2022 prequel Prey for Hulu and is already working on another standalone pic in the franchise].”
- “Maybe we should do like Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez did with Dusk Till Dawn.”
- “I’ll direct a half, and he’ll direct another half.”

Some recent Alien: Romulus promos:
From a report:
Disney continues to keep the shine on its 20th Century Studios brand with their own fingerprints on storied franchises as Alien: Romulus settles with $41.5M, the second highest opening ever in the 45-year old franchise and the highest opening ever for genre-meister Fede Álvarez and star Cailee Spaeny. Global start is way above what we originally spotted ($75M) with $108.2M, but domestic is exactly where we called it.
