Activision has revealed the system requirements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and one of the surprises is its smaller install size. A behemoth 310 GB install size for Xbox was spotted in June for the upcoming installment in Activision’s twenty-year-old franchise, giving fans pause on whether they need to upgrade their system’s storage before it launches in October. Sadly enough, Microsoft has since updated that size to over 315 GB but there is a catch.

This monstrous storage footprint includes Call of Duty HQ and Warzone, which currently consists of the complete suite of Call of Duty games. However, Activision announced a couple of weeks ago that an overhaul of HQ, also arriving in October ahead of the next game’s release, would streamline it making downloads smaller and now according to the newly released Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 PC system requirements, some players may only have to deal with a 78 GB install size.

Something else interesting about the next game, as noted by PC Gamer, is that its hardware requirements match last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. PC owners whose systems are already optimized for that game should be able to play the new one without issue, as long as these specs remain unchanged. Oddly enough the install size for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is reported as being the same as for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which is both good news and a little suspect as well. Here’s hoping these specifications are accurate. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches for PC and consoles on October 26 with open beta beginning on September 6.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
