No Man’s Sky, the open-world action-adventure survival game with procedurally generated universe that Hello Games launched in 2016 but continues to update to better fulfill its original promise of infinite exploration and massive amounts of content, is getting a patch today that adds a new and relaxing element to the game: catching fish. Aquarius, as the update is called, introduces not only fishing poles and new food recipes, but also a customizable fishing platform called the Exo-Skiff that features its own cold storage inventory, aiding in the hunt for legendary fish.
From the patch notes:
- “Players can now install a Fishing Rig in their Multi-Tool, enabling them to cast their line into any body of water and begin fishing. Purchase Fishing Rig blueprints aboard the Space Anomaly.”
- “Over 160 varieties of fish are available to catch. Finding each fish will require exploration of different planets, fishing at different times of day and during different weather conditions, and trawling across a wide range of depths.”
- “Your catch history, including weight records, is recorded in the new Fishing section of the Wonders catalogue.”
