Capcom has just confirmed that MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will make its way to Xbox One in 2025. In addition, Capcom has also made an odd decision for Nintendo Switch owners who are not in the U.S. or Japan. Those who buy the physical edition of the Nintendo Switch in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) will get a code in the box instead of a cartridge while PlayStation 4 owners in the same region will get a disc version of the game. VGC contacted Capcom, who confirmed that the U.S. and Japan Nintendo Switch physical editions will contain an actual cartridge.

Per VGC:

  • “The publisher has officially confirmed to VGC that the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) physical edition of the game on Switch will be a code in a box, whereas the North American and Japanese releases will contain a cartridge in a box.”

Meanwhile, since the Nintendo Switch cartridges are region-free, should Nintendo Switch owners in EMEA decide to go through the extra steps and expense, they could order a real physical edition of the game from overseas. The physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 launch on November 4 while the Xbox One version is planned for 2025. There’s no word on physical or digital details for the Xbox version yet. Digital versions for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 are out now.

Per Capcom Europe (via X formerly Twitter):

  • “Fasten your seatbelts for a ride with #MvCFightingCollection!”
  • “7 legendary games in one Super Heroic collection with online play, training mode, the museum & more.”
  • “[EMEA] Out now for digital on Nintendo Switch, PS4 & Steam.”
  • “Switch (code in box) & PS4 (disc in box) physical on Nov 22. Check your local store for details, offers may vary.”
  • “Xbox One in 2025!”

The news to bring MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics to Xbox One will surely make Xbox owners happier given that it sounded as if Microsoft’s console would be excluded from the collection, according to an announcement back in June.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
