PlayStation VR, the virtual reality headset that Sony Interactive Entertainment introduced to PS4 players in October 2016 under the code name “Project Morpheus,” will no longer be supported in Minecraft, the 2011 sandbox game that remains the best-selling video game in the world, with 300 million copies sold, after March 2025, developer Mojang Studios has announced. The news comes by way of Minecraft’s latest update, 1.21.30 (Bedrock), which ushers in several new features for the game, including Bundles—an item that players stack different blocks or items together in the same inventory slot.
Mojang Studios writes:
- “Our ability to support PlayStation VR has come to an end, and will no longer be supported in updates after March of 2025.”
- “After you receive the final update, you will still receive updates on your PlayStation and be able to play without PlayStation VR.”
- “From this point on you can keep building in your worlds, and your Marketplace purchases (including Tokens) will continue to be available.”
- “You will no longer be able to use your PlayStation VR with Minecraft as it will no longer be supported in the latest updates.”
