RoboCop, a TV series inspired by the 1987 sci-fi action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and its sequels, RoboCop 2 (1990) and RoboCop 3 (1993), is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with James Wan (Saw) on board as executive producer and Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, according to a new report. RoboCop: The Series, a TV show that stars Richard Eden as RoboCop, premiered in 1994 with a pilot episode that was adapted from a discarded script for RoboCop 2 dubbed “Corporate Wars.”
From a report:
- “Veteran Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) has been tapped as writer, executive producer and showrunner on the potential series, based on the MGM movie franchise, with horror master James Wan on board to executive produce through his Atomic Monster banner.”
- “The series will follow the premise of the films, focusing on a giant tech conglomerate which collaborates with the local police department to introduce a technologically advanced enforcer to combat rising crime — a police officer who’s part man, part machine.”
- “…Robocop was among the first MGM titles identified for series development following Amazon’s acquisition of the 100-year-old studio.”
