Windows 11 is celebrating its third anniversary this month, and while users have the option of installing the operating system on supported hardware, the best way to update to the OS is by buying an entirely new PC, according to new recommendations that Microsoft has shared as part of an updated support article. The recommendation comes a few days after Microsoft began rolling out Windows 11 24H2, a new version of the OS that introduces several new features, including a more powerful AI experience via Copilot and an improved Windows Search. A list of Windows 11 PCs that Microsoft has gathered can be found here.
Windows 11 is the most current version of Windows. If you have an older PC, we recommend you move to Windows 11 by buying a new PC. Hardware and software have improved a lot, and today’s computers are faster, more powerful, and more secure. You can also see if your current PC meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. If it does, you can purchase and download a full version of Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro or buy from a retailer.
