Test Setup

Please read our SSD Storage Review Format and Methodology article for an explanation of our test system, how we test, procedures, and goals for SSD reviews. Note that the test system has been changed and updated as of this review, and moving forward, please refer to the System Setup table below for the details and specs on the new test system. All of the SSDs in this review have been re-tested on this new system setup, and all the SSD data in this review is fresh for this review.

System Setup Table

We are using the motherboard’s current default BIOS settings.  We are running the latest motherboard BIOS.  We have Windows 11 Pro configured to run in the “Balanced” power profile.  Windows has the latest updates.  We are running the latest Win11 23H2 update from October 2023.

CrystalDiskInfo & AIDA64

Installation of the SSD went smoothly. In CrystalDiskInfo we can see information on the SSD below. We can see that the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite 2TB SSD has Firmware ERFM11.0 installed and is running at PCIe 4.0 x4. We can confirm the Phison PS5027 controller and that it is running in NVMe 1.4.0 in AIDA64.

SUMMARY

The TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD is a value-option A440 from TEAMGROUP, without a DRAM cache, but using a PHISON controller, and high quality 3D NAND flash, it offers great PCIe 4.0 Gen4 x4 NVMe performance and tested well with sequential and random write performance. It will offer the fastest Gen4 sequential read performance, and is well suited for gaming PCs and general purpose usage and workloads. Make sure to install a heatsink though, it can get quite toasty in cramped builds, but with the cost-savings and price value, it offers a great balance for any user.
