The Ryzen 7 9800X3D, AMD’s first “Zen 5” desktop CPU to feature red team’s 3D V-Cache technology, will be the only Ryzen 9000X3D Series processor to be released on November 7, according to a new report that includes not only a leaked image of the chip’s packaging, but also a note about “no other Ryzen X3D box images are currently being distributed by AMD.” The leaked box art comes several days after a leaker revealed that the 9800X3D will be marketed with “2nd Generation 3D V-Cache,” hinting at a new and more advanced iteration of the technology that can be found on older X3D CPUs (e.g., the 7800X3D and 5800X3D). A look at the 9800X3D’s packaging can be found below.

The key detail is that the box says Ryzen 7, and no other Ryzen X3D box images are currently being distributed by AMD. In other words, unless AMD makes a change, only the 8-core variant will be launching in two weeks.
