Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, a new installment of the military FPS series from Treyarch and Raven that is said to feature a cinematic “spy action thriller” campaign and best-in-class multiplayer experience, will boost the amount of Game Pass subscribers anywhere from 2.5 to 4 million but see a loss of up to 6 million in sales due to Microsoft’s decision to put the game on its Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass services on day one, according to the latest estimates from Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter. Pachter, who has grown infamous in gaming circles for his video game predictions, says that he is expecting to see many headlines in the days ahead about how sales of the latest Call of Duty game are down. Microsoft’s Game Pass promo for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which launches today, can be found below.
Wedbush boss Michael Pachter believes that putting Call of Duty in Game Pass could result in up to six million lost sales, based on the idea that 25% of Game Pass subscribers may have bought the game anyway. However, he adds that the move could result in between three to four million people signing up to Game Pass to access the title. “Good overall for Microsoft and for consumers,” he told us. “But the headline will say ‘Call of Duty sales are down’.”
