The Ryzen 7 9800X3D isn’t competing with the Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel’s latest flagship CPU, but the older Core i9-14900K, a Raptor Lake chip that launched over a year ago, in October 2023, according to a new chart of AM5 processors from AMD that has been shared online. “Arrow Lake-S,” as Intel’s latest generation of desktop CPUs are code named, actually doesn’t show up at all in AMD’s processor breakdown for 2H 2024, which include years-old CPUs that include the Core i7-13700 and Core i7-13900—AMD’s competitors for the Ryzen 7 8700G/7700 and Ryzen 9 7900, respectively. Intel has priced the Core Ultra 9 285K at $589, while the Ryzen 7 9800X3D costs $479.
Although the power consumption of Intel’s new generation of Core Ultra 200S series processors has been greatly reduced, its gaming performance has taken a historical turn. The flagship Core Ultra 9 285K is even worse than the i7-14700K, and it can be said that it is completely defeated by the Ryzen 9000.
