Project TH is a new action RPG based on the world of Mudang (Shaman) by webtoon artist Seok Jung-hyun which is set in the future where North and South Korea have made peace and become a unified nation. Project TH will feature photo-realistic graphics using state-of-the-art human 3d scans and facial captures done by EVR Studios and is also working with A-Story who worked on the Netflix series Kingdom (think GOT set in medieval SE Asia with a mix of The Walking Dead and story elements of Resident Evil) to develop the game. Korean actors Lee Hong-Nae and Heo Sung-tae are among its cast of actors involved.
According to the synopsis the unified countries have created a new military entity that no longer requires enlistment from its citizens. However, the newly formed organization called “Ordo” seems to be up to something that involves a strategy for increasing its enrollment numbers.
Synopsis (per official site):
“Peace has found it’s place in the Korean peninsula after a peaceful unification between the north and the south. With its long-time adversary no longer in presence, mandatory military services becomes voluntary, and changes flow throughout the peninsula. Concerned with the lowered public’s security awareness, the National Security Command put in motion a new program called “The Ordo Project”. “Ordo is an idol group used as propaganda to increase the number of voluntary military enlisting, and quickly succeeds in gaining mass popularity and meet its intended goals.”
Project TH has already been favorably compared to Splinter Cell with its stealth gameplay mechanics. The game adds another twist to its conspiracy-based story, featuring multiple factions, with some type of mind/reality-altered version of events experienced by its main character, Jung-tae. The soldier has been assigned to lead an elite team to protect Ordo but is experiencing unusual skull-splitting headaches during missions. It is during one such mission when a group of armed masked attackers are fended off but as one runs away, and his pain begins to subside, they utter to Jung-tae, “You, you’re a ghost?”
Synopsis-continued:
“The National Security Command organizes an elite combat unit, ‘Chasa’ to protect Ordo, and Jun-tae, a member of Chasa is assigned as the leader, but Jung-tae had a problem of his own. He was suffering from a symptom of excruciating pain in his head, which can only be described as the pain of splitting his skull, only during decisive moments of battle.”
EVR Studios has been releasing its own dev diary updates with the latest focused on its stealth mechanics. The devs have said that final assets are not yet in place and the videos are only meant to show off gameplay concepts in action.
Project TH is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date has not been announced yet.
