SilverStone has revealed that the SST-FLP01, a beige ’80s throwback PC case that was originally designed to be nothing more than an April Fools’ Joke, will be available in Q1 2025 for JPY 19,800 (~$130) following what was apparently great demand from enthusiasts and other customers who have been waxing nostalgic. See below for the original April Fools’ tweet from the SilverStone JP account, which noted the inclusion of faux 5-inch floppy bays and other ancient features, as well as photos of a SST-FLP01 demo PC with Crucial DDR5 memory and other modern hardware that was featured during the SilveStone EXPO 2024 event.

Its design closely resembles the classic NEC PC-9800 series. The part that imitates a 3.5-inch floppy drive has a 5-inch bay on the top and USB and audio terminals on the bottom. Fans can be installed on both sides of the case, so it is designed to prevent heat buildup even when the latest parts are installed. The display model is a prototype, and the final product will be a more ivory color, with a gray line drawn on the recessed part of the front. In other words, it will be a color closer to the PC-9800 series. The product is already in mass production and is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of next year.
