A new rumor suggests the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti will join the GeForce RTX 50 roster of GPUs debuting at CES 2025. If accurate, NVIDIA will debut four cards at CES 2025, all of which can be considered high-performance tier cards. They would range from the GeForce RTX 5070 to 5070 Ti, and then the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 flagship cards. It will be interesting to see exactly what the official naming schema and specifications end up being for this rumored GPU as NVIDIA ended up making some unusual decisions with its GeForce RTX 4070, 4070 Ti, and 4070 Ti SUPER graphics cards.

A messy GeForce RTX 40-series x70 lineup

To recap, Team Green’s x70 cards usually feature a 192-bit memory bus while its x80 models have a 256-bit bus. However, last go around the RTX 4080 launched with 16 GB of memory on a 256-bus, but then it was said a 12 GB variant would launch on a 192-bit bus, which confused more than a few within the PC community when it came to product branding and tier levels.

Eventually, the alternate variant would be released as the 4070 Ti which made perfect sense but then another surprise happened afterward. The 4070 Ti SUPER was launched featuring a cutdown die used in the RTX 4080, the same 16 GB on a 256-bit bus, but with slower memory and clock speeds, and also at the price many had hoped for the RTX 4080 at $799. This, of course, made the entire x70 lineup a bit confusing for those who simply looked at a model name.

Rumored NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Specs

The latest rumor comes from well-known NVIDIA information leaker, Kopite7kimi (via VideoCardz) who has shared some interesting details about what is believed to be the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Apparently, it is currently internally listed as PG147/SKU 60 and as such is using the same PCB and a cut-down die as the rumored RTX 5080. It is said to feature 8960 CUDA Cores/70 streaming multiprocessors, 16% more than the RTX 4070 Ti, but only 6% more than the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, which it more closely resembles in terms of generational specs given it’s rumored shared parts with the RTX 5080.

The last tidbit of info for this graphics card is that it will use 300 Watts of power but it is not known if that is TGP or TDP. By comparison, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has a TDP of 285 Watts. Also, if true this would mean it could use upwards of 50W more than the RTX 5070 but around 100W under the RTX 5080. The next important hardware specs left unmentioned are speeds and memory configuration but given Kopite7kimi’s track record, we probably won’t have long to wait for those.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
