The final TDP specs for NVIDIA’s unreleased flagship RTX 50 series graphics cards could end up being a tad lower than previously expected. NVIDIA is expected to officially announce its “Blackwell” based GeForce RTX 50 series next week at CES 2025 and one of the many details many are wondering about is how much power they will need. As we get closer to the official announcement it makes sense that NVIDIA has, or is, finalizing configuration specifications for these cards. According to more recent rumors, the GeForce RTX 5080 is expected to launch later this month, and then the RTX 5090 to follow sometime after.

GeForce RTX 5080 rumored TDP

The final TDP specs for the GeForce RTX 5080 appear to be more closely aligned with that of the RTX 4080 SUPER than previously expected. At one point it was speculated to be ~400 Watts but according to the latest details from well-known leaker Kopite7, it should be 360 Watts. By comparison the RTX 4080 SUPER was rated at 320 Watts and the RTX 4090 at 450 Watts. Multiple leaked images from various manufacturers have already confirmed that the RTX 5080 will have 16 GB of GDDR7 memory.

GeForce RTX 5090 rumored TDP

Meanwhile, the flagship RTX 5090 GPU has somewhat always been expected to have a Kaiju-sized appetite for power. With its rumored 32 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus providing an estimated bandwidth of 1792 GB/s, plus up to 21,760 CUDA cores, the silicon for this graphics card would undoubtedly need a massive amount of power. The good news is if these latest rumored specs are accurate, it could end up being slightly less at ~575 Watts versus the previously thought 600 Watts. In either case though, still a lot of power draw for one consumer-grade graphics card.

GeForce RTX 50 Series Desktop release date rumors

  1. Geforce RTX 5080 – January 21
  2. GeForce RTX 5090 – Late January/Early February
  3. GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (rumored to essentially be a cutdown RTX 5080 w/ slightly slower mem specs) – February/March
  4. GeForce RTX 5070 – Possibly March/April

Laptop manufacturer packaging and other online leaks have also hinted that a mobile GeForce RTX 5060 could arrive very soon. While no release dates have been specifically mentioned, the number of leaks has been proliferating which means it too could be announced at CES 25, or shortly after.
