New Lian Li L-shaped Edge Gold Series power supplies have some interesting features for PC builders wanting to try a different approach. Lian Li first debuted its Edge Gold series, which utilizes a different shape combined with a USB hub for building in dual-chamber cases easier, back in July but has now made some updates along with having expanded the number of different models in the series. The Edge Gold series now includes 750W, 850W, 1000W, and 1200W models. that are all 80 PLUS GOLD and PPLP GOLD certified, the 1200W and 1000W models are Cybenetic Platinum certified whereas the 750W and 850W versions are Cybenetic Gold certified. However, what makes this new Lian Li L-shaped series different from their previous models is its removable USB/PWM hub and dust cover.

Per Lian Li (via product page):

“The EDGE Gold PSU series features a unique L-shape design, a removable USB and fan PWM hub, longer modular cables, and a conveniently removable dust filter. Experience efficient cable management in a dual chamber or tower chassis that blends aesthetics and convenience in your PC build.”

According to the product page, the 750W model is only available in black while the rest of the lineup is offered in either black or white. Only the 1000W and 1200W models include the magnetically attached USB/PWM hub. All models come with a 10-year warranty but the hub warranty is only for 2 years. Prices range from $99.99 up to $179.99.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
