Vessel of Hatred, a paid expansion for Diablo IV that Blizzard Entertainment launched in October 2024 to usher in some major content for its 2023 action RPG, including an all-new class in the form of the Spiritborn, the jungle region of Nahantu, and Runes for empowering all classes, will not be getting a follow-up any time soon, according to new statements that Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson made during this week’s DICE Summit in Las Vegas.

“In 2025, or just before Season 8, we will have a 2025 roadmap for Diablo IV,” Fergusson reportedly said before going on to reveal that Blizzard isn’t planning to release a new expansion for the game this year. “Now, our second expansion won’t be on that roadmap, because our second expansion is coming in 2026, but at least players will have the road ahead.”

Fergusson did not clarify why Blizzard is moving away from yearly expansions for Diablo IV, but speculation would suggest that the company wants more time to develop them, with Vessel of Hatred having released later than the company had originally anticipated (i.e., 18 months instead of 12).

In other Diablo IV news, Blizzard will be hosting another Mother’s Blessing event for its action RPG next week, one that will enable players to earn 35% experience and 50% Gold at a (multiplicative) increased rate—the former of which should make the coveted 300 Paragon level more easily attainable:

Blessings Aplenty: Earn Gift of the Tree Caches

The Tree of Whispers influence has grown as of late, gnarling their roots in search of their lost Fugitive Heads. From February 18–February 25, while Mother’s Blessing is active, whenever you return your Grim Favors, you’ll also receive an additional Gift of the Tree cache. Its contents—a Collection of Chaos cache—are as unpredictable as their namesake, enjoy the many items that lay within.

In addition to your bonus Caches—while Mother’s Blessing is active—all players will earn 35% experience and 50% Gold at a (multiplicative) increased rate. Lilith blesses all her children, as this bonus applies to both Seasonal and Eternal Realms, and all World Tiers. This bonus stacks, so pair it with Elixirs and the Urn of Aggression to maximize your experience gains while killing Monsters.

Use this boost to carve through ranks of the Battle Pass, climb to higher Levels and World Tiers with burning swiftness, complete your Season Journey to earn Dorian the Raven, and level multiple characters to their maximum potential. For those curious about where to find this boon, look for the in-game icon above your experience bar that signifies the increased rate of earning Gold and experience.

The Blessed Mother’s cruelty is matched by her generosity, but not for long. Gather round, stoke the fire, and rally your most savvy of companions to decimate demons with renewed fervor. Rise to new heights, revel in the shared generosity of the Blessed Mother and Tree of Whispers!
