The Radeon RX 9070 XT, a new GPU based on the RDNA 4 architecture that may finally be revealed by AMD on February 28, isn’t being bolstered with 32 GB of GDDR7 memory as recent rumors out of China have suggested, according to the latest word from Frank Azor, co-founder of Alienware and, more recently, chief architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing at AMD.
“No, the 9070 XT card is not coming in 32 GB capacity,” Azor clarified in a tweet that he sent out this afternoon, shutting down what is apparently fake news before going on to echo David McAfee’s announcement about how the Radeon RX 9000 Series will finally be unveiled to the world on February 28.
“Because they’re going to call it the Radeon Ultra Pro 9070 XTXTX AI+ Black 32GB Special Edition Plus,” a reply reads. “You guys should just hire me now for your marketing.”
“Hmm. But you are not denying the existence of a 32GB card that is *not* a 9070 XT, yes?” another pointed out.
News of the Radeon RX 9070 XT sticking to what is said to be 16 GB of memory comes two weeks after NVIDIA launched the GeForce RTX 5090, a new flagship GPU for gamers and professionals based on the “Blackwell” architecture that features 32 GB of GDDR7 memory for what green team says is a $1,999 MSRP.
“NVIDIA Founders Edition models are available in limited quantities from the Best Buy website,” NVIDIA said at the time of the product’s release. “And pre-built desktops from system builders, including Falcon Northwest, Maingear, and Origin PC are also available.”
