GOG has announced that it will be honoring the legacy of Monolith Productions by bringing F.E.A.R. Platinum, a deluxe version of one of the scariest—and perhaps greatest—FPS games of all time to the GOG Preservation Program. From an X post:

F.E.A.R. Platinum – featuring the base game and both expansions – will be available as part of the GOG Preservation Program by next month. Originally scheduled for a later timeframe, we’ve decided to accelerate this release to properly recognize Monolith’s contributions to gaming.

At GOG, we believe in celebrating the creative minds that have shaped gaming history. Monolith Productions has given players some of the most unforgettable experiences, blending groundbreaking gameplay with rich storytelling. To honor their legacy, we’re proud to announce that F.E.A.R. Platinum will be joining the GOG Preservation Program – and sooner than planned, with other Monolith icons to join eventually as well.

And this is just the beginning. Stay tuned, because tomorrow, we have even more news to share about the GOG Preservation Program!

The news comes a day after Warner Bros. Games confirmed that it would be closing the studio as part of a restructuring, one that would also see the end of two addition WB studios: Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

“Be the hero in your own cinematic epic of action, tension and terror. A mysterious paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound, taking hostages but issuing no demands,” reads a description for F.E.A.R.

“The government responds by sending in a Special Forces team only to have them obliterated. Live footage of the massacre shows an inexplicable wave of destruction tearing the soldiers apart. With no other recourse, the elite F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) team is assembled to deal with the extraordinary circumstances. They are given one simple mission: Evaluate the threat and eliminate the intruders at any cost.”
