Terminator 2D: NO FATE is an upcoming side scroller for PC and consoles that so authentically designed, it’ll have you wondering if you’re back in 1991. The game is being published by Reef Entertainment (Terminator Resistance) and developed by Bitmap Bureau (Xeno Crisis) and will release on September 5. The developers have paid close attention to detail in recreating scenes from the iconic movie as well as having expanded upon some of its story, giving players a chance to become immersed in a more complete Terminator 2: Judgement Day experience while they play as either Sarah Connor or the T-800.

“It’s a love letter to 80s/90s arcade games and we feel like it’s the T2 game we should have had
back in our youth.”

Mike Tucker: Design Director & Programmer, Bitmap Bureau

The developers appear to have nailed the look and feel from some of the best side-scrolling action games of the 80s and 90s. Bitmap Bureau seemingly has a hit on their hands as media coverage for the game is already quite extensive with many giving praise to the gameplay seen in the announcement trailer. A making of video has also been released showing how the team worked to de-res movie assets for the retro-styled game.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
