System Setup Table

We are using an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D for testing. We are using the motherboard’s current default BIOS settings on the latest release BIOS. We have enabled PCI-Express Resizable BAR in the motherboard BIOS. We have enabled EXPO I in the BIOS for the memory. We are using a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro with the latest Windows Updates, including the 24H2 update. We have the latest drivers installed, including the latest chipset drivers.  We are using the “Balanced” power profile in Windows Settings, and Core Isolation/Memory Integrity (VBS) is enabled.

AMD provided us with a press driver for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 reviews. We also used this driver for all the AMD comparison data in this review so that every GPU was on the same driver for a true comparison. This driver is labeled 24.30.31.03 in version number, and will be the new driver talked about in the AMD announcement, 25.3.1.

SUMMARY

The XFX Quicksilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Magnetic Air Edition is based on the AMD RDNA 4 architecture and packs a pretty big improvement to raster and Ray Tracing performance from the previous generation, providing real gains for AMD. It competes with the more expensive GeForce RTX 5070 Ti for performance, at a lower price, except for Ray Tracing which does still lag a generation behind on performance. The XFX Quicksilver AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Magnetic Air is built well, and a solid video card with a pleasing design and unique Magnetic Fan feature from XFX. Its value is high due to the price to performance that it offers compared to the competition.
