POSTAL 2: VR, a new version of the 2003 first-person shooter and “most depraved sandbox in gaming history” from Running with Scissors that has been rebuilt VR, is coming to PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Meta Quest devices, according to today’s announcement from Flat2VR Studios, a VR development studio that re-imagines and adapts what’s said to be the best games to VR.

Here’s an announcement trailer for the game, which, while revealing the aforementioned platforms, does not include a release date:

And here’s an overview of the game via Steam, where it’s available for wishlisting:

Welcome to Paradise—Try Not to Burn It Down.

You’ve got a week’s worth of errands. Buy some milk. Return an overdue library book. Maybe get Gary Coleman’s autograph. Simple enough, right? But this is POSTAL 2 VR—where a normal day can spiral into absolute carnage at a moment’s notice, and the only thing more unpredictable than your to-do list is the lunatic freakshow that calls this town home.

For the first time ever, POSTAL 2 is fully reimagined for VR, bringing its dark humor, open-world mayhem, and unapologetic absurdity to an entirely new level. Step into the well-worn boots of The POSTAL Dude, a hapless everyman just trying to get through the week in the bizarre town of Paradise, Arizona. Whether you choose to play it cool or go completely POSTAL is entirely up to you.

Unleash Chaos—Or Don’t.

Paradise is your playground, and how you interact with it is entirely up to you. Be a law-abiding citizen or let loose with an arsenal of insane weapons, from gasoline and matches to the infamous cat silencer. Dual-wield shotguns, lob grenades, or take a more… personal approach with physics-driven melee combat. Every choice you make fuels the town’s dynamic AI, leading to unpredictable encounters, spontaneous riots, and absolute bedlam.

A Living, Breathing Open World (Full of Weirdos and Trouble)

Explore the world at your own pace, taking on daily errands in a non-linear sandbox filled with unpredictable NPCs, interactive environments, and absurdly detailed physics. Meet (or antagonize) eccentric residents, dodge rampaging elephants, or take in the sights—including Krotchy’s Toy Store and Uncle Dave’s heavily armed religious cult.

A Fully Overhauled VR Experience

POSTAL 2 VR has been rebuilt from the ground up to take full advantage of virtual reality. Feel every reload with manual weapon handling, interact with NPCs like never before using gesture-based reactions, and navigate the chaos with an overhauled inventory and minimap system designed specifically for VR. From flipping off bystanders to aiming every bodily function with precision, no other VR game gives you this much freedom… or this many ways to be a terrible person.

Key Features

  • Open-world sandbox gameplay.
  • Insane arsenal of weapons.
  • Over-the-top gore and physics.
  • Bizarre and memorable characters.
  • Virtual Reality Weapon System – The budget went into making all the weapons feel fun in virtual reality. Witness the future!
  • Gestures / NPC Reactions – Tell the citizens of Paradise how you really feel. Wave, flick them off, and mess with them—no longer limited by your imagination!
  • Overhauled Virtual Reality Inventory System – Organize your stuff virtually.
  • New virtual reality minimap and in-game compass system.

This is POSTAL 2 like you’ve never experienced before—fully unhinged, wildly immersive, and ready to let you loose in the most chaotic VR playground imaginable.

So… how will you spend your week in Paradise?

“Live a week in the life of “The POSTAL Dude”; a hapless everyman just trying to check off some chores,” reads a description for the original 2003 game. “Buying milk, returning an overdue library book, getting Gary Coleman’s autograph, what could possibly go wrong?”
