Gameplay Performance-Ray Tracing
In this section, we enable ray tracing in those games that support it. We did have to dial down the resolution in two games to attain playable FPS. All settings otherwise are unchanged from the prior section.
Alan Wake 2

Good news and bad news here. The MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G GAMING TRIO OC prevails over all cards, but none of them are playable, even upscaled. In the “grain of salt” category, Alan Wake 2 moves along so slowly that 50 FPS is fairly smooth, and the game can be played. That said, 60 FPS is only reached by upscaling the overclocked MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G GAMING TRIO OC. The margin is 6% over the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 OC White Gaming Edition, the same as the gain in overclocking.
Black Myth: Wukong

Despite lowering the resolution, you still can’t play without upscaling in this game. The three AMD cards don’t do well at all here. Overclocking gains absolutely nothing. The silver lining is that with upscaling, we can play on the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G GAMING TRIO OC fairly smoothly.
Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk is not playable without upscaling, but the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G GAMING TRIO OC has the top results nonetheless. There is a 4% advantage over the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 OC White Gaming Edition. The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT never gains enough FPS, and the PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 7900 GRE eeeks out 60 FPS with upscaling. Overclocking aids by 8% here. The XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 OC White Gaming Edition has the top slot after upscaling without overclocking by 2%.
Star Wars Outlaws

Once again, we get nowhere without upscaling, even with a reduced resolution. If overclocked, the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G GAMING TRIO OC has the fastest FPS by 7%. Without it, there is pretty much a dead heat. This is the lone game where we don’t have the RTX-based video card on top in ray tracing unless the card is overclocked. The two older cards are just not up to the challenge.
