Microsoft is on a roll in launching its exclusives on PlayStation 5. It has been announced that Ninja Theory’s sequel is next in line, thus reigniting rumors that Starfield will traverse across the galaxy to the rival console. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 launched as a PC and Xbox exclusive last year, and its developers announced on its 1st anniversary that an enhanced edition is on the way this summer for the PS5. While Ninja Theory did not elaborate on exactly what new features will be added for the PS5 enhanced edition, nor the exact release date, it was confirmed that updates will roll out, adding the same for Xbox/PC.
“Today on the one year anniversary of the release of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. We’re excited to share some news with you on the game. We’re so happy to tell you, our fans, that Hellblade II will be coming to PlayStation 5 this summer. This version of the game will include some new features, which will also be coming to Xbox and PC at the same time as an update.”
-Dom Matthews, Studio Head Ninja Theory
Meanwhile, news of this latest exclusive making its way to PS5 has stirred up ongoing rumours about another game finally getting its debut on Sony’s console. Starfield released for PC and Xbox in September 2023 and has since remained exclusive to those platforms, but many have wondered if the space RPG would one day launch for PlayStation. Xbox CEO Phil Spencer said at the beginning of the year that Bethesda’s long-awaited hit would not remain an exclusive, and as such, those claiming to have the inside word have continued to report it’s on its way. One person, Nate the Hate, has repeatedly held to the idea of a 2025 release and reinforced this following Ninja Theory’s announcement for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
“Starfield is coming to PS5 & intent should be announced this year. It’s just a matter of when will the announcement happen.”
-Nate The Hate
The latest belief is that Microsoft could choose to release Starfield for PlayStation 5 when its next DLC launches. Microsoft has not yet revealed when the DLC will be released or details on what it will be, but it is expected before the end of the year and could arrive in the fall on Starfield’s second anniversary.
