Say what you will about NVIDIA, but there’s no denying the GPU manufacturer’s ability to get game developers to support its RTX technologies. Team Green debuted its first RTX-branded graphics cards with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti in 2018 when it introduced DLSS to the gaming world. The proprietary technology utilizes AI tensor cores for the upscaling tech, along with RT cores for ray tracing, thus relieving some of the workload on the GPU. NVIDIA later continued to expand its suite of RTX features with multi-frame generation on its GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs. DLSS 4 was introduced with the launch of its current GeForce RTX 50 series, with some features available on older generations, but multi-frame generation now supports up to 4x exclusively on the Blackwell-based GPUs. NVIDIA states that there are now over 800 games that support RTX technologies, and more are on the way.
This week’s new releases, which will feature DLSS 4 support with multi-frame generation on day one, are Eternal Strands, a fantasy action-adventure developed by Yellow Brick Games, and Strinova, a free-to-play anime-styled tactical shooter. Eternal Strands is being self-published by Yellow Brick Games, who were founded by veterans from Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and BioWare and had worked on famous titles such as Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Watch Dogs, and Assassin’s Creed.
Eternal Strands follows a similar idea to the Horizon games, in that characters can climb giant animated constructs during battle; however, the visual design is vastly different, and players can also use the environment or enemies’ abilities in their favor during combat.
“Use the environment and temperature to your advantage in battles against a diverse roster of fantastical creatures, like turning a dragon’s fiery breath against ice-covered minions.”
-Yellow Brick Games
Strinova has been developed by iDreamSky and includes a rare feature allowing players to switch between 2D and 3D perspectives. Players have access to a range of characters who are playable across numerous maps and in different game modes.
DLSS features continue to be added to older and recently released titles as well. DIABLO IV will receive in-game native support for DLSS 4 with multi frame generation next week. Previously, this could only be achieved via the NVIDIA App. For those who haven’t checked it out yet, the NVIDIA App is capable of injecting various RTX features not available in-game, such as DLAA or DLSS 4, into older games, but options often depend on which type, or version, of RTX features the game developers last updated to.
Last but not least, Monster Energy Supercross 25 is getting DLSS support on June 27, allowing for higher framerates on RTX GPUs.
