Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games have announced that Ashes of the Singularity II is planned to release in 2026. If able to keep to that launch window, the sequel will arrive on the 10th anniversary of the first game. That massive-scale RTS title, while popular for its epic space battles, went on to become a de facto benchmark game for multiple generations of PC hardware with a multi-core graphics engine that enabled thousands of units to be commanded across a planet, so this sequel will have a high bar to beat.
“Ten years ago, we set a new, literal benchmark for RTS games with massive battles and groundbreaking technology. With Ashes of the Singularity II, we’re raising the bar even higher, delivering strategic gameplay depth that RTS fans have always dreamed of.”
Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock Entertainment

The second game will see players command the United Earth Forces, which comprises members of NATO, China, Russia, Australia, the nations of Africa, and more, to continue the fight for humanity against AI and, due to popular demand, “Post-Humans”, the franchise’s introduction of human factions.
“Obviously, in the first game, the number one request was to have a human faction. Back then, we just couldn’t support having thousands of organic, walking, squishy people in the world and thus had to design in favor of machines. We’re really excited to bring the humans into the war and watch how they fare against the massive mechanical armies of the Substrate and PHC.”
Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock Entertainment
Thanks to an expanded development team, Ashes of the Singularity II will feature “larger battles, advanced units, and a new campaign to lead humanity against hostile AI takeover”, along with sophisticated gameplay, intricate base-building dynamics, and, of course, massive-scale, intense skirmishes against a formidable computer opponent. The developers have also ensured to provide what they describe as a “gripping story-driven” campaign, which is set in the year 2031. The game, like the original, supports either multi-player or single-player modes.
“In skirmish or multiplayer, command the adaptable United Earth Forces, the relentless Post-Human Coalition, or the overwhelming AI Substrate, each with unique units, strategies, and philosophies that redefine how battles are fought.”
