New rumors regarding Insomniac Games’ next additions to its Marvel universe point to at least one title arriving in 2026. Insomniac has been slowly building up its roster of Marvel characters since first releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018. Two years later, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales arrived, expanding the webslinger’s story arc, which then saw the two reunite in 2023 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, where they battled the alien symbiote Venom. Meanwhile, in 2021, Insomniac Games announced a new title based on the cranky clawed X-Man, Wolverine.
Just prior to that announcement, hackers claimed to have obtained files for it and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (more than a year before its PC release). Those files were posted online, showing that at the time, the Wolverine title was in early development, and in the four years since then, Insomniac has been silent regarding the status of its Wolverine game.
However, the second Spider-Man game arrived on PC, and at one point, it was rumored that more DLC was inbound featuring Carnage, The Beetle, and content tying into the popular Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse animated movie, but Insomniac quashed any hopes for that DLC when it said that no further content would be added. This, of course, led some to wonder if Insomniac, like so many studios of late, would be laying off staff and/or cancelling projects, but according to MP1ST, some projects are still moving forward.
“Someone familiar with the situation has confirmed to us that Wolverine will stick to the 2026 scheduled release seen in the leaks and that the Venom project remains in development.”

Even less is known regarding the Venom project, which is being referred to as a spinoff title. It has been speculated that the game will focus on Eddie Brock’s version of Venom, but that is more of a guess than anything. There’s also the possibility that the aforementioned Carnage DLC could be recycled for it as well, depending on how much of it was completed or if it was started in the first place. There’s a lot of content to draw upon for the alien symbiote, which first made its debut in 1984, and as Insomniac has demonstrated with its Spider-Man games, a lot could be put into a game to craft a new story. Otherwise, this project is likely still in the earliest of development stages as Insomniac focuses on getting Wolverine released in 2026.
