S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released to PC in November 2024 and is based on Unreal Engine 5. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl features UE5’s Lumen and Nanite. Lumen is used for direct and indirect global illumination, realistic reflections and a detailed environment. Nanite is used for complex geometry and detailed terrain with high-quality props. High-poly models are also used, along with physically based materials. There are post-processing effects, including volumetric smoke and fog. The game supports NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS as well as TAA. We will be using the game’s built-in graphics preset options and adjust Upscaling where needed. We perform a manual run-through in the open world of the Lesser Zone, in an outdoor environment in the daytime in a GPU-oriented run-through.

ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5050 SOLO 1080p Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl Medium Quality Preset Graph

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a very demanding game at the higher game settings. We had to lower the game down to “Medium” on the graphics preset in order to make it playable on the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5050 SOLO at native resolution 1080p. You can also enable DLSS Upscaling Quality, which brings it up to 90FPS average.

The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5050 SOLO is 60% faster than the GeForce RTX 3050 and 13% faster than the Radeon RX 7600. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5050 SOLO is on par with the GeForce RTX 4060 in performance. Overclocking doesn’t add much, just 3%.

SUMMARY

The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5050 SOLO is a great entry-level gaming card for a small form factor, ITX, or otherwise efficient size and power demand PC build. It provided a good uplift from the previous GeForce RTX 3050 for modern gaming at 1080p, though with some game quality sacrifices. It supports the latest NVIDIA RTX 50 Series Blackwell features, DLSS 4, and Frame Generation, as well as NVENC encoding/decoding. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5050 SOLO gets you in the door to modern features, and game support, in a small compact form that is well cooled, quiet, and at MSRP.
