Ubisoft has revealed that it is still moving forward with remakes of two of its most popular games, one of which could launch in early 2026. It’s the age of remakes and remasters as game publishers continue to revisit old properties in hopes of gaining revenue from new and old fans. Ubisoft, which has had its share of missed opportunities in recent years, leading to rumors of buyouts, is working on a remake of one of its most popular Assassin’s Creed titles, 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and according to Insider Gaming, will launch in the week of March 23, 2026.
“The first official sign of the announcement came during today’s delayed Ubisoft earnings, where one ‘unannounced game’ is set to be released before the end of the company’s fiscal year, which ends March 31st.”

Ubisoft has yet to officially announce an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, but Insider Gaming claims its sources have confirmed the game is in development and that it will be more “RPG heavy”. Meanwhile, another popular title that has been known about for some time seems to still have some life left in it. After roughly five years of rumors and speculated release dates, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake appears to still be in development. Officially announced in 2020, Ubisoft said the 2003 title was being updated with new puzzles, graphics, combat, and more, but then said in 2021 it had been delayed indefinitely. Meanwhile, those with a sharp eye (via TechPowerUp) have spotted the game listed in Ubisoft’s 2025/2026 release lineup.

From potential changes of ownership to layoffs and other changes at Ubisoft, it’s still far too early to be sure if either of these games will be released by the end of 2026. On one hand, getting them out earlier will avoid competing with the GTA 6 launch; on the other, if either is not in good shape at launch, the costs of yet another failed game launch could be disastrous for the publisher.
