File Copy Performance
With DiskBench, we run three different file size copy tests. We test a single 1GB file, a single 10GB file, and a single 50GB file. We copy this file from the test drive to a new folder on the test drive, volume to volume. This tests the performance of the drive’s ability to copy a single large file from itself to itself, as if you were copying files on the same drive.

Copying a 1GB file on the ORICO K20 Mini 1TB Ultra-thin Magnetic Portable SSD goes very fast, and while it is only milliseconds, the ORICO K20Mini was the slowest at 355 milliseconds. This was 19% slower than the MSI DATAMAG and 41% slower than the ADATA SC740.

Things change, though, when the file size increases. With a 10GB file, the ORICO K20 Mini 1TB Ultra-thin Magnetic Portable SSD is now faster than the ADATA SC740, at 5.6 seconds, it is 11% faster. It is very close to the performance of the MSI DATAMAG here; they are only .3 seconds apart. Technically the MSI DATAMAG is faster, but the margins are very close.

The ORICO K20 Mini 1TB Ultra-thin Magnetic Portable SSD also holds its place with a large 50GB file, taking 71.9 seconds to copy. This is 13% faster than the MSI DATAMAG 20Gbps drive, but the ADATA SC740 does edge out 10% faster.
