Overclocking MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X PZ OC

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X PZ OC video card: Afterburner OC final

To overclock the video card, we utilized MSI Afterburner, final version 4.6.6. You will notice in the above screenshot that the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X PZ OC does not allow Core Voltage adjustment, and also the Power Limit is capped at 100%. This left very little for us to do in the way of overclocking. All we had to adjust was Memory Frequency and Core Frequency. The screenshot above shows the final settings we achieved in our testing. Every game benchmark ran without issue under these settings. We noticed from our default benchmarking that this video card ran very cool and quiet when set on automatic fan cycle, so we just left it there for overclocking as well.

To achieve our final results, we pushed the memory frequency slider to the right as far as it could go. We have seen from prior overclocking testing on the RTX 5000 series video cards that the memory can take all the extra frequency you can dial in. As for the core frequency, we found +375MHz was the top limit. We could actually push higher, all the way to 400MHz, but found no benefit in performance increase beyond +375MHz. It seems that there is either a power limitation or a BIOS limitation once you pass +375MHz. So, our final settings are: Core Frequency +375MHz (2857MHz Boost), Memory Frequency + 250MHz (32Gb/s).

The above graph shows what we were able to achieve running our Cyberpunk 2077 manual benchmark. The average frequency at default was 2804MHz, which represents a 13% increase over the factory listed Boost of 2482MHz. When overclocked, the average frequency was 3157MHz. This is a whopping 27% increase over the listed factory Boost. That is actually pretty amazing considering we had no way to increase the power limit or voltage. This card is quite a good overclocker. The cooling at default was also very good. The fans were essentially silent, and the temperatures were nearly identical to the default card at only a 3% fan cycle increase. That is a fine result, right there.

SUMMARY

This review is the fourth in a series highlighting MSI Project Zero. In the review we evaluate the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X PZ OC video card. This is the lone video card in the Project Zero design group. Overall this video card performs like any other RTX 5070 Ti. It is however a great overclocker despite having a locked power limit and Core voltage. The distinct Project Zero aesthetic, excellent cooling and hidden HPWR connection make this a very unique and innovative design.
