GSC Game World is giving a free gift for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl players, just in time for the holidays. Announced a couple of days ago, but released today, the Stories Untold DLC adds a significant amount of content, including over five hours of gameplay, new features, and, best of all, folks don’t have to spend anything to get it.

“The Zone is constantly changing. Stalkers are always moving here and there, and as a result, some places can become populated enough to set up a campfire – or a whole new hub!

With this free content update, the Zone greets new characters with their own personal stories, new locations, and items, and it’s all blended into a new journey for you to take part in.”

Players will be able to choose to help or fight the new stalkers and characters in Stories Untold, depending on whether they pose a threat. Locations, new and previously explored, have different occupants for players to encounter, and there’s the possibility of a new hub, which depends on the story outcome. Added content will become available early on in the game via a PDA message broadcast from any part of the game map, but there’s a higher chance of receiving the message in the Burnt Forest area. Full patch notes can be found here.

A strange signal has been picked up in sector D-14.
 Its source? Unknown.
 Its effect? Unstable.

They say the Zone speaks — but now, by radio. And those who listen too long… may not come back the same.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
