LG and Samsung have unveiled new gaming monitors, including increased resolutions and features, which will be on display at CES 2026. Unless you were someone desperate for some kind of competitive edge with a 27″ display, 2025 was a pretty dull year when it came to new gaming monitor releases. Sure, mini-LED began to get a foothold, and refresh rates continue to approach FTL speeds, but beyond that, not a whole lot was introduced that really stuck out from the pack, beyond a few products here and there. Well, the good news is that 2026 could turn a different direction, but the sad part is that gamers will likely need a powerful GPU to enjoy the flagship offerings on the horizon from both manufacturers.
Samsung

“With this year’s Odyssey lineup, we’re introducing display experiences that simply weren’t possible even a year ago,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “From the industry’s first 6K glasses-free 3D monitor to breakthrough 1,040Hz speed, we designed these monitors to meet the ambitions of today’s gamers and deliver a level of immersion that fundamentally changes how content looks and functions on screen.”

Per Samsung’s press release, it will be expanding its Odyssey lineup with five new displays. At the top of the stack is the Odyssey 3D G90XH, the world’s first 6K 32″ Glasses-free monitor, which uses eye-tracking technology to adjust depth and perspective for the user. It also features dual-mode (6K/3K) 165 / 330 Hz refresh rates and 1 ms GTG response time. According to Samsung, this display has already been optimized for The First Berserker: Khazan, Lies of P: Overture and Stellar Blade for added 3D effects.
Bragging rights for fastest display now belong to Samsung with its 1,040 Hz refresh rate Odyssey G6 G60H 27″ gaming monitor. For those wanting to step back a bit, it’s dual mode technology also provides a 600 Hz mode while providing support for AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible VRR technologies.
Samsung expands its G8 lineup with three new models beginning with the Odyssey G80HS, another 32″ 6K display similar to the above 3D panel sans 3D features. Next is another 32″ offering, the Odyssey G80SH, but this one is 4K QD-OLED with a 240 Hz refresh rate, a 300-nit brightness, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification along with, finally, a full bandwitdh DP port, DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) supporting up to 80Gbps data throughput. Lastly is a 27″ 5K Odyssey G8 G80HF with dual mode support providing a 180 Hz / 360 Hz refresh rate.
LG

“The new UltraGear evo marks a definitive turning point, signaling the end of compromises in gaming display performance. With innovations like industry-first 5K AI Upscaling, the lineup ensures that whether gamers prefer perfect blacks, unmatched brightness, or expansive scale, they can enjoy the same high standard of performance, clarity and immersion in high resolution,” said Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.

According to its CES press release, LG is debuting a world-first trifecta with its UltraGear EVO lineup. At the top of this stack is a gigantic, you’re going to need a bigger desk for this, 52″ 5K/2K OLED curved gaming monitor. The 52G930B has a 240 Hz refresh rate, is VESA Display HDR 600 certified, and has a 1000R curvature. In what is likely a typo, LG says the 52G930B has a 12:9 aspect ratio but is probably supposed to be 21:9.
“The massive screen features the vertical viewing height of a standard 42-inch 16:9 display, stretching horizontally for an expansive 12:9 panoramic view. This form factor provides a workspace 33 percent wider than a standard UHD monitor.”

The LG 39-inch 39GX950B OLED could be a more popular display among PC users who don’t have the desk space available for something bigger, and at 5K/32-inches displays content at 142 PPI. With its dual-mode technology its supports 165 Hz (5K) / 330 Hz (WFHD) refresh rates and a 1500R curvature. It is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified with a 0.03 ms GTG response time.
Lastly is the world’s first 5K 27″ mini-LED monitor. LG says that the 27GM950B “sets a new standard for 27-inch gaming monitors as the world’s first 5K New MiniLED display designed to dramatically improve blooming control,” through the use of mini-LEDs, with 2,304 local dimming zones, and its Zero Optical Distance technology.
LG is including its 5K AI upscaling solution for all three of the displays in its Ultragear ECO lineup. For those wondering, since most modern GPUs still rely on upscaling technology to achieve 60 FPS at 4K, the manufacturer explains that its hardware-based AI “analyzes and enhances content in real time before it reaches the panel, delivering stunning 5K-class clarity without requiring GPU upgrades.”
All three displays will make their debut at CES 2026.
