Temperature Testing the MSI MAG PANO 100R PZ

For temperature testing, the MSI MAG PANO 100R PZ, we ran two separate sets of stress tests, one for the CPU and one for the GPU. After 20 minutes, we recorded the temperatures using either HWInfo64 or GPUZ. The system setup is listed in the chart above. We ran Cinebench R23 multicore for the CPU stress and UniEngine Superposition benchmark for the GPU stress.

CPU temperature

In this testing, we used Cinebench R23 multicore and ran the instance for a minimum of 20 minutes. One run was with the case as we used it in all our testing in this series of articles, as open as possible. The case was essentially just the frame-work excepting the front glass. In the second run, we put all the panels in place, just as if the case were being used every day. The fan speeds were run at default and controlled by the motherboard BIOS. Open, the CPU reached an average temperature of 85.4C and a maximum of 86.1C Closed, the average was 89.5 and the maximum was 90C. Keep in mind that Cinebench R23 puts 100% load on the cores.

GPU Temperature

In this testing, we applied the same scheme. We used a looping Uniengine Superposition benchmark running for a minimum of 20 minutes. You can see there was very little temperature difference between open and closed case with nearly 100% GPU utilization. If you look at our review of the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G VENTUS 3X PZ OC, you can see there is only about 1 degree C difference from the open test bench. Also included is the temperature data from the CPU during the GPU testing. Whether open or closed case, the CPU temperature was about 50% lower due to less load, a more realistic look at what you would expect during gaming.

The MSI MAG F120 fans that are included in the case are listed at 1300rpm. During our tests, we noted roughly 1000rpm registered. The BIOS software controlled the fans for all the testing. While fan noise was obvious with the case open, when all the panels were attached, the noise was minimal and not bothersome.

SUMMARY

We conclude a series of reviews of the MSI Project Zero with the MSI MAG PANO 100R PZ PC case. One in a line-up of six cases purpose built for back-connect motherboards, we found this case to be very well thought out and easy to work in. The fit, finish and implementation of design were very impressive. This PC case would be a great start to a full back-connect PC build. The glass front and left side are especially impressive as is the overall design.
